Vin Diesel may very well be on his way to becoming the next big action hero. His efforts have crossed from movies into video games, including a failed attempt at starting his own development studio, and his stardom seems to have no limit. Thankfully, he?s accepted the small task of starring in both film and games instead of trying to create them, and you?ll be able to experience his latest role this summer on the Xbox.
The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay is the prequel to both movies, The Chronicles of Riddick and Pitch Black. In it, you take Riddick through his escape from the most notorious prison in the galaxy, home to the most violent criminals of any civilization.
This first person shooter will feature both up close and personal action as well as stealth gameplay. Riddick?s ?eye shine? ability will facilitate this process by allowing the player to see in the dark. An arsenal of vicious weapons is at your disposal to escape the big house, including both assault weapons as well as gruesome hand to hand weapons.
The graphics are definitely something to be amazed about. The Normal Mapping technology the developers are using gives the game a unique feel, as well as providing it with some very realistic images. Facial animation, rag doll physics, and awesome Dolby Digital 5.1 will round out what is sure to be a truly immersive experience.
This licensed game seems to be going that extra few yards, instead of just relying on the name alone to sell it. From the look we got at E3, we saw some really great gameplay accompanied by astounding graphics. If all goes well, Chronicles should set a new standard for licensed games everywhere when it is released this summer.
