At E3 2002 nYko unveiled their Air Flo line of controllers. The main feature of which is their patented 'Air Flo' Technology. Essentially, this feature incorporates a fan and air-circulation system into a game controller; the air is sucked into the controller and then pushed out via special air channels in the grips of the controller. The result? Your hands stay cool and dry. If you're playing a 'twitch' game and your hands start to sweat - the moisture merely makes the Air Flo system work more efficiently!
So - what is the Xbox version like? Based on the models I tested at E3, the Xbox compatible Air Flo controller was the best of the bunch. This was mainly due to the way the controls for the Air Flo features were positioned and implemented. There was one button to turn the feature on and off and a second button that was used to choose between fan speeds. This allows for quick adjustments of the Air Flo mechanism on-the-fly. Additionally, the positioning of the buttons was next to the analog sticks (just a bit towards the inside) - easily accesibly with the thumb without releasing the grip on the controller (or even looking...). I look forward to putting the Air Flo controllers through their paces...
