Just in case you have neither the time nor inclination to read a bunch of separate Wii stories, here’s a quick rundown of some of the first party games announced for the revolutionary new system.

The two big titles are, of course, Super Mario Galaxy and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. Galaxy will feature new, unique 3D gameplay that takes traditional Mario run & jump action into space, with Mario running along the surface of small to large planetoids. Mario’s basic movement is controlled via the analog attachment, with the Wii-mote itself saved for some new unique game play interfaces.

Everyone loves a new Zelda game that looks like this. Since it was technically developed as a GameCube game, Twilight Princess won’t make core use of the Wii-mote, but certain aspects of the game like menus, special attacks, and ranged weapons will make use of the new controller’s unique features.

Excite Truck will come from the same “pedigree”, as Reggie put it, as its ExciteBike predecessors. Players will hold the Wii-mote sideways, utilizing the ability for the system to detect shifts in the controller’s orientation to control it much like a steering wheel.

If you want a general overview of all the different kinds of odd ways the Wii-mote can be employed, Wario Ware Smooth Move is sure to show you.

While actual details are scarce on Metroid Prime 3, it’s pretty easy to see how the Wii-mote control translates into some pretty interesting, new types of FPS gameplay. Some other titles announced are Disaster, Fire Emblem, Lifestyle, Project HAMMER, and Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
