Attacks:

Lightcore Star Strike is an excellent ranged character that can also melee pretty darned well. Her main attack is called Star Gate. Essentially, she throws out a star which will return like a boomerang. It is very similar to Drobot’s attack. Her secondary attack is called Cosmic Twirl. When you press the button for it, she will spin around and any stars returning will bounce off of her, doing more damage. The first upgrade that I recommend is called Starfall. Once you buy it, you will have a third attack. When you press the button for it, stars fall from the sky to the exact spot that you called them from. You can deflect them with the secondary attack button as well. While Star Gate is a great ranged attack, Starfall is a solid melee attack. It’s not as powerful as a true melee character’s attack, but it is close and works well. Also, Lightcore Star Strike’s ranged attack still works well in hand to hand combat. You have three more upgrades before choosing a path. Star-Filled Sky makes Starfall more powerful. Your Biggest Fan makes Cosmic Twirl more powerful and spins further. Star Power makes it so that Star Gate can be shot faster and harder. Personally, I really like this as you can use Star Gate for attacking anyone.

Lightcore Star Strike has two upgrade paths. The top one makes makes Starfall more powerful and the bottom has upgrades for Star Gate. On top you have Star Light, which makes Starfall a large star that falls and explodes. Star Struck makes Starfall even more powerful again and then Star Bright makes it so that you can call Starfall twice in a row, which almost creates a shield around you. Personally, I like the bottom path since I use Star Gate more. Atom Splitter makes it so that when you deflect Star Gate, it splinters into two attacks. Star Evasion is a passive upgrade. It permanently increases her armor. Finally, Super Star works like Atom Splitter but after you have deflected four times, the attack is really powerful. Granted, it is hard to get the hang of deflecting the attacks, but it is so powerful once you do that it is worth a bit of practice on the training dummies.

Comments:

So far, Lightcore Star Strike is my favorite of the new Skylanders to use. On-screen she is graceful and elegant, gliding smoothly across the ground, giving the appearance of a queen. However, once she attacks, she is anything but kind and gentle. I love that her ranged attacks are very powerful and work well up close. Of course, you have to get used to the deflection to make them really strong, but once you do, she can be one of the strongest characters in the game.

I do think that they could have improved the lightcore part of her. The only thing that lights up are her eyes. While it is a neat effect, it would have been nice to have something like the fan glow as well, just to set it apart from the regular figure a bit more.

If you’re looking for an excellent character who can do it all, I highly recommend you go pick up Lightcore Star Strike today. She’s a beautiful character who’s more than powerful enough to get you through any situation or level that you need.
