The first kink in Sam and Darrin's vacation comes when they go sightseeing at Nathaniel Hawthorne's famous House of the Seven Gables, where an antique bedwarmer becomes enamoured with Sam. Turns out its a warlock who was turned into the bedwarmer by Serena, Sam's naughty cousin, many hundreds of years before. When it follows Sam to the hotel, police and hilarity ensue. Then there's the famous fisherman statue that swaps places with poor Darrin, under Serena's hand, once again. Finally, Paul Revere (Bert Convey) comes to life and spices the trip up a bit. Needless to say, the Stevens' time in Salem is, by far, the most fun of the entire season.
But there are still plenty of other antics to be seen. There's the episode where Sam is forced to swap places with the Good Fairy (Imogene Coca), because she just wants to be normal for a change. Poor Sam has a hard time hiding those wings. There's the time Sam and Larry's wife Louise swap places for a day, except the only one who seems to realize it is Sam! And who can forget when Sam has to play her mother Endora (Agnes Moorehead) on a TV commercial as "Mother-in-Law of the Year," only to have Endora show back up - awkward times.
One of the most endearing episodes is the Christmas episode that deals with racism. In it, Tabitha (Erin Murphy) and her best friend Lisa long to be actual sisters, despite their skin color differences. When Tabitha's magic goes awry, the girls end up polka dotted! The girls wind up teaching a really valuable lesson to a somewhat racist client of Darrin's firm and there's a sweet moral to the story.
All in all, Bewitched continues to amuse and Bewitched: The Complete Seventh Season is no different. Although it never fails to surprise me how much alcohol is consumed on the show, aside from that, it's good family entertainment.
