The last volume ended with Chase, Bren and Jinja joining forces with a young monk named Beyal, but it isn’t long before they find a fifth person to join their team, but the four aren’t sure if they can really trust the scoundrel named Dax.
In the volume’s first episode, Beyal tells the others that their Monsunos are constantly trying to communicate with their owners, but the owner has to still their mind and concentrate in order to hear what they are trying to say. It is with this ability to listen to their creatures that the group learns that there will be a fifth member to join their team, and when they meet Dax, they realize it is him.
They run into this new character while tracing down Chase’s missing dad, Jeredy, and part of the reason they mistrust Dax is because he seems to know something about Jeredy and isn’t speaking up. Before this volume is up though, Dax’s loyalties will be tested when S.T.O.R.M. bribes Dax to turn the four kids in for the price of some new Monsunos.
This volume also has Chase meeting up with his father’s former business partner, Dr. Emmanuel Klipse, the leader behind the evil group bent on using Monsunos to take over and reshape the world.
The only special features on this DVD include character bios for Jinja and Dr. Klipse. Both go into the characters' history, Monsuno of choice, and personality. There isn’t much, but it’s basically the same added value as what was on the previous DVD release.
While this volume has Chase’s group gaining a fifth member, by the end of it, the kids are still searching for Jeredy and still stuck between the two forces of Eklipse and S.T.O.R.M. Like I said, the show is ramping up, but there is still a good bit of set-up happening. If you follow the show when it comes on live, or enjoyed the first volume, Destiny, then you should enjoy these episodes as well.
