Hard Truck Apocalypse: Rise of Clans was a surprise for me. I had not heard, nor had I seen anything about the game. So when it appeared on my queue, I took it on with great enthusiasm. Everyone likes a surprise. Not having played the first chapter, Hard Truck Apocalypse, but then again who really did, I still get a weird sense of deja vu right from the start after playing a little Auto Assault. There was no tutorial to this game really; it was just here you go, jump in and blow up. Yea! I am not a big fan of the trial by death learning experience, but I am one who likes a lot of exploration. And, I get just that from this game from the start.

You start out with the on-screen indicator that just reads "mission complete". You will spend a lot of time traveling from town to town in this action/driving RPG. The hint system is small and hard to read in the left corner of the screen. I had played for about five to ten minutes before I even noticed it was there, but barring that, I was able to find my way through all of the menu systems and readily able to handle a simple enough to use resource management system. The HUD is a very simple to use and minimalistic system. You are only going to get what you need to know brought up in front of you, so make sure to revisit the mission log often.
